Flat Profit but clear focus on growth of 3-D
The Cinema chain said that the second half of 2010 would be stronger than the 26-week period to July 1.
“3-D is now as important to film as sound was once for silent pictures.” The Cinema analysts estimate that 49 3-D films will be released next year across the world. Tickets for 3-D films cost as much as 50 per cent more than for standard films. INOX, Fun Cinemas, IMAX screened seven 3-D films between January and July, including Alice in the wonderland and How to train your Dragon. Analysts said that the movies relied on technology at the expense of production quality. “An increasing number of bad movies at inflated ticket prices will cause 3-D fatigue.”
